Our Total-Wellness Approach to Dentistry
At Dental Wellness of Bend we view your dental health through the lens of your overall health and well-being. What does this mean? It means that we do more than just create beautiful smiles, we help the person behind that beautiful smile to be as healthy as they can be.
We want to be more than just dentists who fix teeth, we want to be a part of a patient’s overall healthcare and wellness team. Being aware of oral conditions that cause whole body issues can help us work with other health care providers to manage a patient’s health much more carefully.
Our mouths are the windows to our whole-body health, and having a healthy oral condition allows you the ability to comfortably eat nutritious foods, confidently smile and engage in relationships, activities, and community that are part of a healthy lifestyle.
Your First Visit – a Comprehensive Diagnosis and Experience
Starting with your first visit we will thoroughly and comprehensively assess every aspect of your oral condition. We will take time to get to know you as a person and your unique goals and experiences with dental treatment. We will provide a comfortable and compassionate environment where you feel heard and understood as an individual. We will evaluate gum and bone health, tooth structure, chewing system including bite and jaw joint, biocorrosion, and oral cancer risk. We will thoroughly explain your diagnosis using 2 and 3 dimensional radiographs, periodontal health indicators, and a comprehensive intraoral and extraoral photo series. We will discuss treatment choices and possibilities that fit your treatment goals for outcomes and budget. We will ensure you leave with an understanding of your oral health like you’ve never had before
preventive care that contributes to whole body health
After your new patient visit, we will have the information we need to create a preventive plan of care. Our goal is to provide comprehensive and preventive treatment that gives you complete confidence there is nothing about your oral condition that is adversely affecting your systemic health.
pH & Bacterial Load
In addition to our routine cleanings, exams, and X-rays, we can measure the pH and bacterial load in our patients’ mouths. This step provides us with great insight into the effects of our patients’ oral hygiene and diet on their oral health. We believe that it’s very important to understand the total-wellness of our patients in order to truly provide the best treatment recommendations and care.
